Marriage is a public toilet: Get in or get out!

Just recently, I had a brush-up with my dear for the umpteenth time and now our horns are locked and our mood is darker than hell. If a man sips words that few women neglect, this would mean turmoil in relationship. If I had to digest and swallow all that women say, then I would lead a miserable and melancholy life! At least by my standards I have some reservations and you get along with some for the right reasons, not just for sex. For those whose fixation on mind is decided by their other half lead a happy, content life! I don’t believe this ‘cause’ no married humans are happy every day. They have something or the other to juxtapose!

And this morning a seventh grader, Sonam Wangchen in his morning speech talked not to make haste when it comes to marriage. He cited several obvious reasons such as, unemployment, economic instability and poverty. He made me think during the whole assembly session, what can a seventh grader know about marriage? Now the times are grudgingly changing and adolescents know more about relationships and marriage than their older counter parts. If this is not change then what is it? You name it!

All world talks about getting married and leading a content life! What is so content about it anyway? I am writing this for the ones whose marriages have become a perennial source of tension and trouble globally. I am left with no chances to pen it down saying, “Women marry in haste and men marry with curiosity”-just see if I got this right!

Being modern, technology is inevitable and even the ones that don’t know the chemistry of the letter ‘A’ know how to text and make calls, knows how can the channels be changed and how can it be put off. And for those who were educated with questionable and doubtful knowledge, if any, are obsessed with social media-facebook! Now this revolutionary idea of communication has become a medium for all your happiness and grievances. If you have trouble believing this, a fourth grader in my school has her facebook profile and she’s an active facebooker! And she happens to be in my friends list! What time mosh?

Now time has come that, my dear has taken to facebook to pour out her grievances on personal matters! Even the single people resort to facebook for all sorts of resentment, frustrations and grievances. I doubt whether help might come if we do this. And there might be hordes of wives and husbands trusting facebook more than their spouses. This is the revolution that is sweeping Bhutan and where are we heading to-a horizon with no definite destination perhaps.

Modern people with modern outlook on life-If your spouse shares things on the internet globally and refrains from sharing it with you then, this kinship won’t last long for nobody wants to leave without paining the other a little. So is marriage alacrity? If you have troubles, dear spouses, FACE IT please don’t FACEBOOK IT. Please do ponder on the following!

Marriage is like a public toilet; those outside, are eager to get in and those on the inside, eager to get out!

Good day folks!

Thank you women!

Once a friend remarked, “Wai chikha jo bay, namshi dro bay gey mena” (Let’s go outside and harass the weather) when the weather that weekend behaved improperly when we had something proper in mind. Does this make sense? Man vs. nature! But it surely is a good laugh! I even have a personality in mind for man vs. nature! The following tells one of the insensible good laugh, which is prevalent in our social system like the laughing stock mentioned in the opening lines.

It’s better to get into a woman’s shoes and feel their pain for a while than being the woman itself, because nobody can play your role better than you. It’s a man’s job to decide what is befriending good for and what women would consider if men be like women. We were created, by whosoever, had kept this difference that men be men and women be women.
I took us millennia(s) or may be even longer to keep that difference and life was fine and evolution brought us this far, for what-to compete against each other. If so, then, we need to get rid of the femininity and masculinity concepts. Let’s not make them juxtapose forcefully in the name of relationships, development, distance or any other biological stupidity!

Women here enjoy equal rights as men and nobody is against it. This has been there even before the first educated Bhutanese became educated-that women inherited everything in the good old ancient times-you name it! Now that modernization is sweeping everyone’s’ mind, it has become obvious that women demand rights. Why not because some men claim to be men and be women at the same time! Some men are perfectly women everywhere but it doesn’t mean men become women when dealing women for whatever reasons. The writer laments...because he lives in such set condition.

They (women) in the form of mothers, sisters, aunties, friends make decisions, keep safe of everything around them and meet the needs in the most difficult of times and yet manage to live with such self confidence which men cannot if men were to take up all the daunting tasks that women live everyday with. We have fine women personalities around the world for which men are of no match.

Thanks and nobody can play your role better than you! Praised be women-kind!
Thank you to womanhood and all women on this planet playing an applaud-able role despite your own problems.

And have you come across biological men who although have attributes of a man but does everything that a woman should. I have seen plenty! These cohorts of men seemingly tell one thing and do something other-that their outlook and motives are a result of feminine unanimous-ness.  For them it’s a world where making women comfortable is of importance and for men, “Khemey, ngache phogey tsu dhi tub ra tub ba” (It’s definitely ok for we are men). What is “tub” (Ok) and “mey tub” (isn’t ok) is for individuals to decide not for the ones that wear a masculine body with feminine outlook and thinking pattern-be it a husband, a colleague, a mate, an acquaintance, a crony, or for that matter a demanding boss.
My opinion is of little significance and I don’t intend a speck of curiosity to be aroused in you as readers because you might have fallen short of time and expressions even if you may have felt or may be feeling the same, but it delights me in having known electronically that you read this write up. Thank you readers and thank you for everything, this world wouldn’t have been possible without you-women!

Lastly, not the least of all, a belated happy mother’s day to all women on this earth for keeping things going in this brief called life!

A tremendous success and a lamentable failure!

Sorry for the wacky title. The film festival this year was commendable and it should be after all, our actors, actresses and other stakeholders made valuable contributions to the Bhutanese cinema. Although at its infancy it is a commendable thing to tread the path of an artist. I am delighted by true stories whether be it in any language-subtitles provided. I don’t have any inkling towards the local Bhutanese movies but nevertheless some are worth the praise and some beyond praise.

MPAB is a body that regulates the whole movie business but of late I have heard that this association is yet to pick out its board members. How far can the movie industry move without a proper guiding association? A working body without a head I presume! The festival was held despite several shortcomings. Hats off to those who made this event a success.

Also, the festival requires a deluge of sponsors and advertisers. The commercial lifeline of all undertakings requires funding and we cannot compare our capital fund that we accumulate to other nations. In this case size does matter. Thanks to those firms and companies that sponsored the event and their company logos were visible right behind the anchor. What caught my eye is the logo bearing ECB, if you know what I mean! My little brain with its limited comprehension cannot understand why on earth ECB had to sponsor such event although; it’s heartening to hear of such gestures.

Elections had been conducted and very negligible reporting errors were made. All done! Now what! People must think beyond the elections. Our country faces perennial shortages of fund and in my Dzongkhag I heard the grumbles of those election officials who were underpaid for the deputed work they were assigned as polling officials. Does this match? The underpayment of officials in one and sponsoring a live event, on the other!

Again coming back to the talk of funds, it’s a nation’s call. Let there be no monetary benefits at all and invite volunteers from the civil service. A good number of officials would pen their names down for such services. If it doesn’t then, this definitely is the pocket’s call. This is an inconvenient truth. Otherwise, pay what has to be paid-Neither over nor under!

Our youth rejoice in Korean movies and soups-this is a biting truth. Fund our movie industry well and then have a board to regulate it properly. Only then, some sense will take shape otherwise we all have to seek inspiration from Aldous Huxley’s (Sorry if I got the name incorrect) Beauty Industry, “Beauty (Movie) industry is both a tremendous success and a lamentable failure”.

Good day folks!
